Okay, so I'm writing this article for WINNERonline on screenshots. I figured it would be a good idea to get the casino's side of the story so I picked 1/2 dozen of the biggies and e-mailed them a simple 4 question survey on the subject. The result: a few promises and then nothing, nada, zero.
So now I'm asking you: - ever done a screenshot? - have you ever used a screenshot to prove anything to your casino? did they care? - anyone ever hear of faked screenshots being used to dupe a casino? Thoughts, comments, rumors, hearsay, whatever: le'me hear it. Max. |

1. Yes
2. No, but have taken screenshots just in case. 3. Possible, but there are ways to detect a fake screenshot which I am obviously not going to detail here. Screenshots are not absolute proof of anything other than what is apparent on one's screen. Combined with other things such as logs, they can be very useful, however. ------------------ Spearmaster Got2Bet - Online Gambling News and Information |

1) yes. I've had 4 Royals, screenshot of each one
So pretty to look at..2) no, but I do take screenshots of terms and conditions just in case. doesn't matter if they care or not, but it might come in handy if it ever came down to it. 3) no. fake screenshots can be identified quite easily if they know graphics formats. They can also be fudged (not so) easily if you know your graphics formats (i'm talking at the byte level, to get at metadata that isn't in the visual part of the file). in any case, if it comes down to "look, I got a Royal but the money isn't in my account!" kinda fudge, that would never work. Their servers store that info. If it comes down to them retro changing the t&c's, that would't do much either. They know they changed their terms.. all you can do is post the images on the forums and show how shady that casino is being if that's the case. i think the big issue for your article should be "HOW TO DO A SCREENSHOT" because that comes up all the time. Press the PrintScreen button in windows, or ALT-PRINTSCREEN to grab that current window. Then click Start n Run then type in MSPAINT. Then hit "CTRL-V" to paste the image. Say YES if you need to increase the image size. LIke I said, the most I'd use screenshots for is taking pretty pictures of nice big wins ![]() |

I sent it it to them and they assured me they have no problems with their software. And assured me it would never happen again because it had never happened before. (They said it - not me.) they would send it along and they would let me know, etc etc. I did get a later e-mail from the technical dept. requesting detailed information of which game, when, browser, etc. But never heard from them again after that. Just glad I got paid. It's Thrive Media software in Canada. I was about $2000 thru a $6000 playthru (the 500/250*8 offer) when it happened. I tried to get them to just let me cash-out at that point in time as I had little faith in their software at that point, but they would not let me do that. I did get a kick out of the manager wishing me luck in future play - like that's gonna happen. The only other screenshot I ever used was getting 2 Ace of Spades at Lasseter's before I realized it was an infinite deck game. I sent this to Mika when I corrected the fact you guys said Lasseter's was a single-deck game in your article on your home page so it actually came in handy. Now I just use some from fun mode when I'm up $20,000 and show them to my wife so she thinks I'm making money and doesn't get mad at me for not looking for a job..... |

"It's Thrive Media software in Canada."
aka Gamblingsoftware. Well known to be cheapo software, so I'm not surprised... |

Max...I think that using screen shots is a tool that most players can use to try to prove their point...
I have to totally disagree with the comments that fakes are easy to recognize. I have a number of graphic artists that work for me that could easily doctor any screen shot in any file format. Any image that is captured can be manipulated at the pixel level. If you re-save an image there are various tags that are associated with the file that can identify that the image was altered by "X" program. All a good forger would need to do is alter the image, display it on their computer monitor and take another screen shot of it. At that point they have erased any tags for the program they used to alter the image. It is very easy to fake screenshots. This makes them just like lie detector tests. They might help but are not undisputable proof of anything. |

There are a number of shareware/freeware proggies that take the tediousness out of the basic paste into paint. ie. you can set a hotkey (such as printscreen or whatever) that will capture images in sequence...with the hit of a key. Piece of cake. Without the hassle.
Snagit is pretty good: http://www.techsmith.com/products/snagit/default.asp Try out the freeware version and see if you like. ------------------ Webslave and Portal Owner |
