Default Gambling Principles - Detour: Fung Shui in Gambling

Gambling Principles - Detour: Fung Shui in Gambling

Fung Shui, literally meaning 'wind' and 'water', is the ancient Chinese practice of placement to achieve harmony with the environment. Many brick and mortal casinos (in Macau, Canada and even Las Vegas) prior to their contructions hire these fung shui masters to check the layout and make sure every pillar, every table, lights etc are placed in accordance with Fung Shui so to attract more gamblers in and lose their pants.

Do you guys believe in Fung Shui? I myself deeply believe in Fung Shui and you might call me superstitious but some of these ancient practices are not without reasons. I mean I did Chemistry and Econometrics back in college and I found that a lot things in Fung Shui seem to reconcile with science (Magnetism, Chaos Theory, etc)

I have tried my best to alter the enviornment near my computer (where I gamble!) to maximize my luck and I would like to share some of these things I do which you might also find useful (I might not have the reason why though!):

1a, Remove all light sources behind you monitor, it drains your energy.

1b, Pick your wallpaper (of your computer that is!) carefully. If you lost money a couple of times after you put up a new Ferrari picture and you suspect it gives you bad luck...it is!! Change to something that gives you pleasure and makes you feel comfortable. That last thing you want to look at is something that irritates you when you are about to go on tilt. I myself use the color green.

2a, Remove all unnecessary belongings off the table, especially tiny human figures- each one standing reprecents an enermy. Messes on your table overall distracts you and you might make wrong decisions.

2b, Put a bottle of water near your reach. Water means money in Chinese but it also means wisdom. Drink it when you need to.

2c, If you can, place some 'weapons' on the table and have it point to your dealer. A pair of scissors might suffice. If you feel mean about doing this, then at least not have the weapon point towards you!

3, Turn off the sounds. Like in real casinos, these sounds only help irritate you. You will find youself thinking a lot more clearly if it was quiet.

4, Don't gamble in the hours between 17:00-19:00, sunset takes away your mental power, especially when during this period you should be eating your dinner!

5, Wash up and shave your face everytime you gamble. Dirt and greace are no good because they silently irritate you. Comb your hair so that it doesn't cover your forehead. A shinny forehead is what dealers hate to see.

6, Move your chairs and shake your body when you lose. Might be a bit spooky but ancient Chinese believe that when you are gambling it attracts ghosts and spirits nearby to come watch. They might stick to the corners of you table or your chair or your back and give you bad luck and cause you make mistakes. Moving your chair or stand up to take a little troll when you are losing beats them away. (In fac,t sometimes it is optimal to take a break while losing too much anyway)

Hope you find the above at least entertaining if not useful. Feel free to share some of things that you do when gamble.
