Online Poker has completely taken over the internet in only a couple of months. This game knows one of the biggest successes the internet has ever seen, and the business around it is worth billions.
Let’s understand how everything began. The first step, without which nothing would have been possible, is price cuts on computers and high speed internet. This allowed almost every household in Europe and North America to be connected. Soon, broadband offered unlimited connection options, meaning the entire world could be connected, 24/7, at reasonable price. The world was now linked. The second step is the birth of a new version of poker: the Texas Hold’em! This mode simplified the game, and made it accessible to the masses. The live tournaments organized by the casinos knew a huge success, seeing thousands of people coming to participate. With this success, the prizepools offered soon reached millions, making the game even more attractive. The third step is the legalization of online gaming. Having internet at home, people didn’t need to go to the casinos, which often represented very long trips that most people could afford only once or twice a year. So from then, anyone, all around the world, could play his favorite casino games online, in the comfort of his home, this including poker. Online Casinos were an instant success. But now, what makes online poker better than live games. Why is it so interesting to prefer internet to the real stuff? This is what we’ll see right now. Before the game itself, the choice of the casino already makes a difference. Online casino are offering loads of welcome offers, promotions, discounts, tournaments, and so on, that sometime allow you to play with over 10 times as much as what you first deposit was worth. There aren’t any ‘real’ casinos that can match the deals offered online. Now, let’s have a more precise look about the game. Unless you are playing using a webcam, feature currently available only on one (and probably the best) casino, internet poker allows you to hide your emotions when you flop a big hand or have nothing. The other players cannot see your face, and therefore you could be jumping up and down and nobody at the poker table would |
