Despite being legalized and regulated in the United Kingdom, a significant percentage of the population doesn't have confidence in the online gambling industry.
Citing numbers from online market research company, The iD Factor
, the Ecommerce-Journal
reports that 50 percent of UK citizens polled doubted that online gambling firms could protect their identities.
As the report stated, "Customers rated retailers, central and local government, the NHS, banks and financial institutions, travel companies and the main utilities as more trustworthy organizations despite a poorer record at protecting customer information."
This might be due to the fact that the business is perceived by many to be "shady."
Of the 1000 people polled regarding companies' ability to protect data, 46 percent gave online gambling the lowest rating.
