Online poker helps Playtech record 37pc profits rise
Growing demand for online poker has helped Playtech, the Aim-listed gambling software provider, record a 37pc rise in first-half profits.
The company, which recently signed a deal to develop software for William Hill's gambling website, said pre-tax profits in the six months to June 30 came in at €32.8m (£28.6m) compared to €24m a year earlier. Revenue rose to €56.7m compared to €51.6m last year.
