Hey, what are you testing here?

We've been getting flooded with hit-and-run spammers the last few days so I'm testing some filtering techniques. This test was not successful. :)

Thats true. The other day I noticed a spammer, by the time my two fingers had typed a small 'are you posting in the right area' reply, the offending post was removed. 'pooof' :p

I think the hit and run thing probably works well enough if they attack a board that doesn't fight back to hard. In our case we've always made it a point to not do that. :)

Personally I take it as an attack on our integrity and attempt to deface our property so we've always made it a habit to pull out the stops in order to beat them at their own game. Spammers, especially the hit and run guys, are hostile parasites IMHO and deserve to be treated accordingly.

It must be profitable for some people otherwise nobody would do it. They were not advertising a casino, but a search portal. It was quite bad. I can see the deleted posts, and at one time 12 out 20 post on the first page of BEST and WORST Online Casinos were this kind of spam.

I still don't think it works too well - or are you getting the same people coming back again and again?

There are a whole lot of new affiliates who have no idea how to get started - and it is difficult since the search engines do not allow gambling businesses to advertise anymore. You have to rise up by merit, unless you like to cheat and don't mind starting over and over and over again.

Anyway, I think a lot of the website spammers are new webmasters who have no idea what else to do. I think that suddenly appearing on someone's site, spamming and leaving is theft. There is no excuse for that - there should always be a give and take between friendly sites. There is no reason why we can't forge relationships that benefit everyone.
